Weekly Scottish Country Dance Classes

Class Dates

Tuesday classes start again on 7th September and finish on 14th December 2010, with half-term on 26th October.

Friday classes start again on 10th September and finish on 17th December 2010.

Friday country dance classes at St Peter's, West Blatchington

At the Community Hall next to St Peter's Church West Blatchington BN3 7LQ, on the corner of Hangleton Road and Holmes Avenue. The 5B bus stops nearby.

  • 6:15 - 7:30 pm - for children aged 6 - 16, this class includes some Highland dancing. Contact Diana Burrows on 01903 783053, Susanna Shukla on 07739 972844 or Denise on 01273 735400.
  • 7:30 to 8:45 - for beginners and improvers - the class starts with with lessons in technique and formations with some easy dancing. Children from the earlier class, and their parents, are encouraged to stay and join this class.
  • 9:00 to 10:15 - by invitation only - after a short tea break the class will study more complex formations, techniques and dances.
  • The second part of the evening may, by arrangement, include teaching for the RSCDS Dancing Proficiency Test.

Tuesday mixed, social class in Saltdean

At Saltdean County Primary School, Chiltington Way, Saltdean, BN2 8HB.

  • 7:30 - 9:30 pm - for dancers who know formations and like "gentle dancing".

There is no Tuesday class on 1st June and the last Tuesday class this term is Tuesday 25th May 2010.

Fees

£3 per evening for RSCDS members*, children under 16 and 16-25s in full-time education. You can pay termly in advance to get 20% off this price (to the nearest 50p).

£4 per evening for adult non-members.

* RSCDS Brighton Branch membership costs £17 annually, including membership of the world-wide RSCDS or "HQ". Apply using the A5 application form and pay Ray before June if you can, otherwise please hand the form and money to the teacher at the first weekly class you attend.
