Weekly Highland Dance Classes

Classes are running again from autumn 2021

Rodney's sword dance, by Susanna Hawkins Scottish dance - a highland fling Come and learn Scottish highland dance at our weekly highland dance classes for children and adults, run by RSCDS Brighton in Patcham (Brighton and Hove), Sussex.

Highland dancing includes sword dancing sand is quite strenuous and requires you to be fit and agile.

Classes are at Patcham, just off the A27, and run on alternate Fridays (ie fortnightly) 6:15 - 7:30pm just before the weekly country class.

About the classes

sword dancing - a highland dancer dancing over swords, by Charles Wordingham Our Friday highland dance classes are open to adults as well as children aged 6-16.

We teach at all levels of proficiency. If you want to work towards gaining test medals, we can train you for the UK Alliance examinations (United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing) as our teacher is UKA qualified.

For children, our highland dance classes are a chance to enjoy dancing in a friendly, non pushy, atmosphere with their friends from different school and of all ages. Why not give it a try?

Getting there

All highland dance classes are held in the Patcham Memorial Hall, Old London Road, Patcham, Brighton and Hove BN1 8XR.
Bus 5A stops nearby at Audrey Close and bus 5 stops five minutes' walk away.

Fees

RSCDS dancers dancing the highland fling on Brighton seafront, by Helen Sandwell £3 per evening for RSCDS members*, children under 16 and 16-25s in full-time education. You can pay termly in advance to get 20% off this price (to the nearest 50p).

£4 per evening for adult non-members.

* RSCDS Brighton Branch membership costs £21 annually, including membership of the world-wide RSCDS or "HQ". You can now download the membership application form (for printing on A4 Landscape).
